If I am, well, I'll just leave this thread right now - I do try to put in what little input I have on things I'd like to see, since I do want to play this game eventually. And one of the biggest things I do not want to see is this game turn into the second coming of FFXI. It's already dangerously close to teetering over that edge just by virtue of the same general graphic look (albeit sharper and updated) and the same races. I enjoyed XI while I played it but that ship has sailed for me.
The minority I'm talking about are those that are still playing this game and are so dissatisfied with it that no amount of change will make them happy unless it was a drastic revamp or a remake of FFXI with better graphics. These are the people whom I label as those that haven't abandoned the "sinking ship" but aren't exactly happy about staying on it either. In my opinion, life is too short to be so unhappy and frustrated, so if they're expecting such drastic changes then either they take a break and go away for a few months or quit altogether, because SE doesn't move at the Speed of Light in this area. People have short memories ... they need to look back at FFXI to see that painfully clear.

"However, players plainly need an easy-to-use game play system that encourages a healthy in-game economy. If an auction house is that system, then I say we should implement it. Making everything new and original isn't necessarily the right thing all the time."

But what's going to be changed first? "The user interface," Yoshida said. "We can work on other things all we want, but if we don't fix the controls at the same time, then players will be too frustrated to fully appreciate the other improvements.
Context is everything. The first part of that quote highlights the need for an auction house and that's something everyone was in agreeance with. Him making that statement here, however, highlights his lack of understanding of the previous development:

"... a popular feature in Final Fantasy XI that was omitted from the new game."
Yes, I'm calling him out on this, because the auction house IS IN THE GAME. I've already provided enough evidence so I won't bother rehashing that argument. The previous team was just waiting on the right time to activate this system and everyone speculated that it was the PS3 release. I can already tell that the departure of the previous leads in the development staff was probably abrupt and no communication had been established with the new leads and thus it's up to this new team to basically pickup where things were left off.

The second statement had nothing to do with the first on players wanting an "FFXI clone". All he said was he expressed sympathies for their desires and also that he agreed that somethings were needed to be implemented but other things are still up for discussion. How much more they want to revert back to FFXI? No, they are not going to, because looking at the poll suggest that barely 20% of players played FFXI before. Again, look at the hard facts before trumpeting your own agendas.

I find it silly that he didn't just say "a popular feature in all MMORPGs" because ... yeah. AH is pretty standard. It isn't as though FFXI revolutionized the Auction House.
